Speech and language therapy provides support and care to individuals with speech, language, communication, and swallowing difficulties.
Therapy can benefit children and young people with difficulties in speech, language, and communication. Speech and language therapy can also provide education, training, and support for families, friends, and other professionals involved in the client’s care.
You don't need a referral to access support from specialist therapists at Serennu Therapies. It is an open referral system for families and we accept referrals from professionals.
All therapists at Serennu Therapies are registered with the HCPC (Health Care Professionals Council) and the RCSLT (Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists).
These registrations are a requirement for practicing speech and language therapy in the UK. We are also members of ASLTIP (Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice).
Continuing Professional Development and robust clinical supervision are undertaken regularly, ensuring Therapists keep abreast of evolving evidence-based practices and approaches within our clinical areas of expertise.
Sessions are tailored to individual needs. They can be delivered at your home, in nursery/school, online, or a mix of both!
Progress varies by individual, depending on the child's communication profile, age, frequency of therapy, and the consistency of strategies used at home / in school. Your therapist will discuss a plan and expected outcomes.
Yes, we offer virtual sessions for convenient access to support from home. We've had positive outcomes from offering a parent coaching model with many of our families.
Yes. The earlier a client is supported with their speech, language, or communication, the better. It is well-researched that early intervention is highly beneficial for individuals with speech, language, and communication difficulties.
Due to longer waiting lists in the NHS, early intervention is sometimes not possible. At Serennu Therapies we have no waiting list and aim to see clients at a time and place to suit their needs and requirements. We encourage joint working with all professionals involved in your child's care. We choose to collaborate with other professionals not only because it's recommended by the RCSLT (our professional regulatory body) but because it is always in the best interests of the children and families we work with. It will of course provide better outcomes for children if everyone involved in their care works closely together.
There are no waiting lists for our speech and language therapy services; we aim to see all our clients at a time and place to suit them and as soon as possible after an initial enquiry.
