What is a Sensory Integration Practitioner?
Sensory integration is not a checklist. It is not a generic movement break or a fidget recommendation.
Ayres Sensory Integration is a rigorous, evidence-based neurodevelopmental framework — and when it is properly integrated within Speech and Language Therapy, it allows us to understand and support communication at its roots.
Rebecca and Sara are currently completing their postgraduate training in Ayres Sensory Integration through Sensory Integration Education, in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University.
We will be fully qualified in December 2026, and expect to open bookings for specialist assessment and intervention in early 2027.
We will not offer this service until we are qualified to deliver it to the standard your child deserves.
What specialist sensory integration within SLT will look like:
Proper assessment — not guesswork
Using structured clinical observations and standardised tools, including the Evaluation in Ayres Sensory Integration (EASI) and Sensory Integration and Praxis Tests (SIPT) where appropriate
Individualised, not generic
We do not prescribe the same sensory strategy to every child. We assess, analyse, and identify what your child's nervous system actually needs with parents and carers to ensure consistent support at home and in daily routines
Speech and language through the whole nervous system
Motor speech, regulation, attention and communication are all connected to sensory-motor foundations — and that is where we work
